I have thoroughly enjoyed researching and findings ice creams to recommend for you. This ice cream and the Buttermilk and Cream Cheese Ice Cream (featured on Smell of Rosemary on 13 June 2016) are excellent and unique varieties you need to try during these hot summer days.
The lime and avocado combine to create a great flavor that will serve as a wonderful summer snack or dessert to any summer meal.
Use all the ingredients from the Buttermilk and Cream Cheese Ice Cream recipe found at http://www.smellofrosemary.com/2016/06/13/buttermilk-and-cream-cheese-ice-cream/ and the additional ingredients found below.
- 1½ medium sized and ripe avocados
- 1 teaspoon key lime zest
- ¼ cup fresh key lime juice
Chop the avocados into small pieces. Very ripe avocados, soft but still with a pale green flesh, work best. Add these avocado pieces, key lime zest, and key lime juice to the freezer container of the ice cream maker after the blender step in the Buttercream and Cream Cheese Ice Cream recipe. If you want a smoother texture, blend avocados, along with the key lime zest and key lime juice, with the ingredients from the Buttermilk and Cream Cheese ice cream recipe.
Freeze the ice cream mixture according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for up to a week.
